Gordon passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side at the age of 92. The son of the late Emil and Martha (Wolters) Kowalsky was born August 22, 1926 in Alpena, Michigan. He was a member of Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church. Gordon retired from GM Powertrain Bay City-Plant after many years of service. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #6950. Gordon served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W. II in the Pacfic.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark and Marsha Kowalsky of Ft. Wayne, IN and Alan and Velda Kowalsky of Kawkawlin, MI; his grandchildren, Meredith (Blake) Sievers, Melissa (David) Coberley, Matthew Kowalsky and Oksana Kowalsky; his great granddaughters, Isabelle and Samantha Sievers and Kaitlin Coberley and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Caroline Kowalsky; and his brothers and sisters. Gordon was a man who was loved by all.
Funeral Services will take place Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Joel Pankow with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council and the U.S. Army. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Kowalsky will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church General Fund.
