Grace Swiecicki (September 15, 1923 - March 25, 2011) Grace Swiecicki, 87, of Waterford passed away on Friday, March 25, 2011 after a brief illness. Grace was born on September 15, 1923 daughter of the late Alexander and Angeline (Baran) Luczak in Bay City, MI. Grace was married to the late Emil Swiecicki and enjoyed many years of matrimonial bliss until his death in 1981. Grace graduated from Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids. Her distinguished career as a registered nurse spanned four decades until she retired from Pontiac General Hospital/North Oakland Medical Center. Her continued passion for healthcare led her to volunteer her skills to various senior citizen organizations until her death. Grace was an active member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and celebrated her faith with that community. She enjoyed the company of family and friends, along with travelling, knitting, baking and playing Bingo. Grace is survived by her children Marilyn (Kellie) Dean of Okemos, Mark Swiecicki of Lake Orion, and Peter (Julie) Swiecicki of Birmingham; four grandchildren Patrick and Christopher Dean and Paul and Adam Swiecicki, three sisters-in-law; Geri, Marge and Thelma Luczak and one brother-in-law; James Lewicki. Grace was preceded in death by her brothers; Gene, Jerry, and Don Luczak, and sisters; Patricia (Richard) Brzezinski, Elaine (Edward) Wiechec and Marge Lewicki. The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church 80 S. Lynn St. Waterford, MI. Celebrant will be Fr. H. Thomas Kuehnemund with private interment at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Bay City, MI. Friends may call at the Riverside Chapel Simpson Modetz Funeral Home 5630 Pontiac lake Road Waterford, MI 48327 Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil for the Deceased will take place Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Swiecicki will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Parish Nurse's Group.
