Grace passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 78 years. The daughter of the late Benjamin and Grace (Deman) LaBelle was born June 21, 1935 in Bad Axe, MI. Grace was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Grace was a volunteer for many years in the gift shop at McLaren Bay Region. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Left behind to cherish her memory are four daughters and three son-in-laws; Susan and David Kepsel, Linda and Bruce Boman, Nancy Phillips and Jane and Jeff Reid, her grandchildren; Gary (Andrea) Kepsel, Sean Kepsel, Andrea (Brad) Schabel, Robert (Amber) Witbrodt, Brandon Witbrodt and Andrew Reid, her great-grandchildren; Juliette Phillips, Payton Schabel and Gavin Witbrodt, two brothers and three sisters-in-law; Charles and Marie LaBelle, Edward and Pam LaBelle and Nancy LaBelle, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband; Francis "Frank" Phillips and he passed away on March 25, 2012, two brothers; Bob and Jack LaBelle. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Bay Shores Nursing Home, the 3rd floor nursing staff at McLaren Bay Region, the staff of McLaren Visiting Nurse Services and Hospice and all the Doctors who contributed to her care. The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. William J. Gruden with private burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Bad Axe, MI. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil for the Deceased will take place Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Grace will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
