Gregory L. Shauger

Shauger, Gregory L. Sanford, Michigan At the age of 62 years, Greg passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Medilodge in Midland, MI. He was born in Midland on June 14, 1957. Greg honorably served our country with his dedicated commitment in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1975 to 1978. He joined the Midland County sheriff's office in 1986 working with Animal Control, and began working road patrol in 1994. He was nominated for the annual Carl and Esther Gerstacker Law Enforcement Award by fellow officers in 2002. He was a firearms instructor, field training deputy and dive/rescue team coordinator. He also worked with Mothers Against Drunk Driving. He was a significant mentor for other officers and enjoyed his job to keep citizens in the county safe. He is survived by his brother, Scott (Lisa) Shauger. His wife Mary Lou survives him. He was married to Reberta Meehan in which he had daughter Amanda (Kevin) McCool with two sons, Mason and Jackson. He was married to Yvonne (Glenn) Alvord and had daughter Elizabeth (Nicholas) Srebinski with a son Logan. Greg loved the outdoors including camping, hunting, fishing, boating, and cooking meals in his Dutch oven. He loved his dogs and trips to Jay's Sporting Goods were his favorite. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation can consider Michigan Parkinson Foundation in Greg's name. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
