Harold E. Strain "Hal"

Harold passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 93 years. He was born July 14, 1926 in Logan Ohio to the late Leroy and Florence (Franzen) Strain. Harold graduated from Springfield High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He Graduated from Ohio University in 1950 and earned his professional engineering degree in 1954. On September 6, 1953 he married Helen Triplett and they were married for 66 years. Harold was a member of Grace Methodist Church and a member of Grand Lodge of Ohio Masons. He worked for Robbins and Myers in Springfield Ohio, Northern Tube in Pinconning, MI and retired from McMillian and Associates of Bay City, MI. Harold enjoyed golfing, woodworking and genealogy.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Strain; two sons, Dr. R. Eric (Kathy) Strain and Marc (Tina) Strain; five grandchildren, Kayla, Bradley, Zachary (Emily), Taylor and Dakota Strain; two sister-in laws, Mary Jane McDowall and Glenna Kelly; brother in law, Robert Triplett and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Harold is preceded in death by his grandson, Christian Strain; brother, Richard (Francis) Strain; three step sisters, Jean Davis, Miriam Light and Helen Wagner; brother and sister in laws, Bill Triplett, Jean Trivett, Blair Triplett and Carol Sue Wood.

Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Grace Church West Campus. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Temple with Inurnment at the Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make a memorial contribution to Grace Church.
