Harry E. Wood

Mr. Wood passed away Wednesday morning January 27, 2010 at Brian's House. Age 80. The son of the late Guy E. & Bertha (Ross) Wood, he was born March 21, 1929 in Bay City. Harry served with the US Navy from 1946 to 1951. He retired from Grey Iron Foundry in 1975 after 25 years of employment. Harry was an avid golfer and loved to travel. He enjoyed life, family and friends, and his once a month dinners with longtime friends from Handy High.On November 1, 1947 Harry married the former Dorothy E. Buzzard and she survives him along with three daughters, Marcia Spicer of South Lyon, Beverly (Joseph) Youngs of Montrose and Amy McNamara of Mahwah, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Sara, Heather, Jeremy, Joey, Jessica & Brandon; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard (Geraldine) Wood of Buffalo, New York; and a sister, Carolyn (Willard) Wallgren of Saginaw. Besides his parents, Harry was also preceded in death by two sons, William Guy Wood and David Edward Wood; a sister, Barbara Stock; and a brother, Jack Wood.A memorial service will take place at 11:00am on Saturday January 30, 2010 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Andreas H. Teich. The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brian's House, the Salvation Army or the donor's favorite charity.
