Hazel passed in her sleep on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, bringing 92 years of life to a peaceful close. The only sister of eight brothers, Hazel Gray was born November 6, 1932 in Burt, Michigan to the late Edward Sr. and Hazel. She married the love of her life, Ernie Kish, on November 30th, 1952 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, beginning her 72 year membership.
After raising her family, she began to devote time to organizations she cared deeply about, including A.R.C., New Dimension, Mixed Bag and her church. She was a skilled painter, avid gardener and struggled with punctuality, but is best remembered for the love she shared - with friends, strangers, her community, but most importantly, the love she shared with her family.
Hazel is survived by her children Timothy Kish Sr. (Mary Sharon), Marisue (William) Johnson, William Kish (Linda Cuddie), Kathryn (Paul) Beauvais, Sally Kish, and daughter-in-law Barbara Kish. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-law Marion Gray and Sharon Hignight.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ernest Kish; their son, Gregory Kish; his sons Brett and Eric Kish, and her brothers: Edward Jr., Francis (Eleonor), Albert (Gertrude), Lesley (Shirley), Charles Sr., James (Jayne), Harry, and Robert (Rita) Gray.
A funeral service officiated by Rev. Jamie Milton and Rev. Linda Williams will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20th, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with interment at Fremont Cemetery to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, December 19th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home and on Friday, December 20th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to the Deacons of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
