Mr. Vink passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Porter Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Grand Rapids, MI. with his family by his side. The son of the late Anthony and Mae (Willitte) Vink was born February 24, 1928 in Essexville, MI. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and the League of Catholic Men and Women. Mr. Vink retired from Consumers Energy. He had a great love for sports, especially baseball. Mr. Vink served his country in the Amy Air Corps. Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife the former Virginia M. Rapelje whom he married November 27, 1948 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, children: Barbara J. (James Evans) Vink, Michael A.Vink, Robert L.Vink, Jeffrey D. Vink, Pamela A. (Mark Fassett) Vink, grandchildren; Patrick J. Evans, Joseph A. Evans, Aila S. Fassett and Sienna R. Fassett. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sisters and brothers; June M. (Francis Hill) Vink, Melda (Joseph Cote) Vink, Allen James (Kathleen Mc Dermott) Vink. The family would like to extend a Thank you to Dr. Shyam Dandamudi M.D., Dr. Rajesh Dandamudi M.D., McLaren Hospice, the Carriage House Nursing Home and Sister Gabriella of St. Anne's Parish in Grand Rapids for the kind and compassionate care you gave our loved one during his time of need. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday May 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Parish (St. Mary the Assumption 607 E. South Union Bay City, MI 48706). The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Patrick Jankowiak with the Rite of Committal following in St. Patrick's Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. to receive family and friends on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Vink will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
