With great sorrow, we said goodbye to our beautiful, loving mother Helen D. Kimbrue on May 31, 2020 at the age of 95. Helen Galliker was born in Detroit on January 12, 1925 and moved to Tawas City as a child. She graduated from Tawas High School in 1941 at the age of 16.
Helen came to Bay City during the war years to work in the defense industry where she met her husband, Emerson Kimbrue in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1983. After his death, she became an aide at Bangor West Elementary where she worked for 25 years (only missing 2 days). She loved working with the children and her "lunch bunch". She retired at the age of 85.
Helen was a brilliant woman who wrote poetry, loved bingo, crosswords and was hard to best at Scrabble. A voracious speed reader, mom could tell you what was going on anywhere in the world.
She leaves to mourn, her adoring daughters, Janice Goodwin of Saginaw, Lorie (Richard) Wisniewski of Au Gres and Maureen (Reza) Azizian of Norman OK; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn McGregor of Utica and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Henry "Hank" and Mitchell Kimbrue and three sisters and two brothers.
Mom was a very strong-willed and spiritual woman who was a cancer survivor of nearly 60 years.
Her girls would like to thank her care givers at her home for the last four years, Bayfield Assisted Living.
We'll miss you momma-always in our hearts.
