Brennan, Herbert John "Herb" Bay City, Michigan On Saturday evening March 3, 2012 Herbert John Brennan went peacefully to be with his Lord on his 75th Birthday after a 2 month battle with mesothelioma. He was born on March 3, 1937 to Mary E. (Bourdlaies) and Russell J. Brennan. He lived his entire life in Bay City, Michigan. He graduated from St. James, and began working at Defoe Shipyard as an electrician apprentice. He was drafted and served in the United States Army serving mainly in Germany. Upon returning home he returned to the shipyard before beginning his 30 year career with General Motors, retiring as a maintenance supervisor. The most important thing to Herb all his life was his beautiful wife "Schatze" and his family. He loved to spend summers at his cabin with family and hunting in the fall. His loyalty for his town and his life-long friends is a legacy that will continue to live on. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Joyce (Seymour) Brennan, His three children, Lorie and Ken Stewart of Hudsonville, MI; and Michelle and Dan Erla of Ada, MI and Todd and Michelle Brennan of Zeeland, MI. He was the proud Grandfather of 8 grandchildren; Carmen and Trevor Stewart, Taylor and Reagan Erla, and Ashton, Blake, Peyton and Jordan Brennan. As well as a sister; Alice Brennan and a dear friend Carolyn Redwitz of Essexville, MI and sister Rosemary Kaidan of Bay City, MI. Also his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Ronald and Mary Seymour and Ben and Elieen Seymour of Bay City as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his step father; Lawrence Worden and his step-brother; Charles "Lance" Worden. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hedwig Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Kevin N. Kerbawy with the Rite of Committal and Military Honor's conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council at St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Herb will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Brian's House, St. Hedwig Parish or a charity of your choice will be available at the funeral home.
