Herman passed away peacefully at his residence with his family by his side on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the age of 89. He was born to the late Herman and Cora Bertuleit on November 3, 1933 in Midland, Michigan. He attended Midland High and continued his education at Michigan State University. He was a CPA, founding member and a partner for over 35 years at Weinlander Fitzhugh Certified Public Accountants & Consultants. He loved his job and was great at it. He was an avid Michigan State fan and enjoyed watching horse racing. He also loved going to the casino, golfing, gardening and watching sports.
Herman is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Bertuleit, whom he married on August 19, 1972. He is also survived by his children, Jill Bertuleit, Jennifer Bertuleit and Jeff (Catherine) Bertuleit and grandchildren, Kiyana, Caitlin and Claire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marla (Bertuleit) Withers and sister, Mary Ann Knopic.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to McLaren Hospice for the wonderful care over the past month and also the staff at Golden Horizon’s for their care over the past two years.
A memorial service and military honors will be taking place on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home. The family will be present to receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
