Herb passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region, at the age of 82. The son of the late Raymond and Dolores (Aeder) Starkweather was born June 2, 1935 in Bay City, Michigan. Herb served his country in the U.S. Airforce for twenty one years and then he went on to work twenty two more years at the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center in Saginaw. He was a member of the American Legion and the D.A.V. Herb was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, he enjoyed listening to music and gardening.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife the former Marilyn J. Jones whom he married March 13, 1957 in Sherman, Texas; one son, Daniel Starkweather; his grandchildren, Shane, Dusty and Shane Starkweather, Charlie Starkweather-Cerda and Kristie Starkweather; his half-sister, Mary and his niece, Joanie Hogan. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his son, Steven Starkweather; his granddaughter, Nicole Starkweather; his brother, Jerry; his sisters, Marge and Judy.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 12:00 o'clock Noon at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel Hester followed by Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Airforce and the Bay County Veterans Council. Private entombment will take place in Chapel Hill Mausoleum in Freeland. The family will be present at the funeral home on Wednesday to receive family and friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider expressions of sympathy to the Aleda V.A. Lutz Medical Center, the American Diabetes Association, Wounded Warrior's Project or the Salvation Army.
