Our loving wife, mother, oma, great oma and sister, passed away unexpectedly early, Tuesday morning, June 26, 2018 at her home, at the age of 74. She was born October 12, 1943 in Wurzburg, Germany. While living in Germany she worked as a school teacher and retired from Bangor Township Schools as a cook. Hilu enjoyed reading, crocheting, fishing, playing games on the computer, chatting on Facebook with family and friends, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 51 years, Alvin E. Hitz whom she married October 1, 1966 in Germany, three children, Michael (his fiancée, Janice Hebert) Hitz, Steven (Karen) Hitz and Nicole (David) Luczak; six grandchildren, Shane (Stephanie) Hitz, Chelsea (Josh) Lambert, Brandon Luczak, Zachary Hitz, MacKenzie Hitz and Tyler Luczak; two great grandchildren, Kaylynn and Theron Lambert; two sisters, Brigette (Peter) Mensinger and Mechtild Groesch; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Anton Schachner and her mother, Elisabeth (Biltz) Schachner.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson with private burial in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home to receive family and friends on Friday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
