Howard N. Matthews

Mr. Matthews passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 82 years. The son on the late Gerald and Gertrude (Treiber) Matthews was born June 26, 1936 in Bay City, Michigan. Mr. Matthews was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was retired from Dow Chemical after more than 30 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, playing blooper ball and was an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions fan, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife of 62 years the former, Wilda M. Brookhouse; three children, Sherry (Larry) Dengler, Gerald Matthews and Gregory (Charlene) Matthews; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) King, Kyle (Katie) Dengler and Craig (Amy) Dengler; two great grandchildren, Mason King and Gemma Dengler; two sisters, Marge Smith and Lorraine (Bud) Budill; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Matthews was also preceded in death by one son, Kevin "Bucket" Matthews; great grandson, Hunter King; five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

Funeral and Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Chris Garcia with private interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial cards for Immanuel Lutheran Church or the National Kidney Foundation will be available at the funeral home.
