Inez Y. Simmons

Inez Y. Simmons, age 93, of Bay City, passed away early Friday morning, February 10, 2012, at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital. The daughter of the late Christian T. & Patricia E. (Burnside) Yonker, she was born April 4, 1918 in Bangor Twp. Inez retired from K-mart after 32 years of service. Inez was a generous, kind and compassionate person who loved and cherished her family. She also loved books, gardening and history. Inez held a special place in her heart for her animals, both wild and domestic and she cared for her horses well into her 80's. We will all miss her deeply, however, we rejoice in her reunion with her family in heaven. Mrs. Simmons is survived by her children, Sandra K. (Larry) Binder of Petersburg, MI, Charles D. (Vivian) Simmons of Bay City, Joyce E. Vescio of Saginaw, Kathleen R. Simmons of Cincinnati, OH, and Dwight D. (Mary) Simmons of Bay City; grandchildren, James Sauve, Richard (Paula) Sauve, Stephen Sauve, Adam Simmons, Rebecca (Rob) Falin, Caleb Simmons, Jeffrey (Lana) Vescio, Lisa (Arthur) MacArthur, John (Stephanie) Vescio, Eric Simmons, Bradley Simmons, Christine Simmons, Carolyn (Steven) Nielsen and Scott (Shannon) Simmons; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, Inez was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles W. Simmons in 1984, a daughter Judith Kay Simmons, a sister, Vida J. Ryan; and two brothers, Charles D. Yonker and Virgil E.Yonker. The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to Dr. S. Dandamudi, Inez's home health care workers and housekeeper, and the staff at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital for their exceptional care. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Andreas H. Teich with interment following at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bay County Humane Society or the donor's favorite charity.
