Irene Ellen Bauer

Mrs. Bauer passed away early Saturday morning December 26, 2015 at Bay Special Care Hospital following a brief illness with her husband at her side. Age 69 years. The daughter of the late Wesley and Norma Brown was born March 13, 1946 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and has resided in Bay City for many years. She graduated from Grand Rapids Central High School and continued on with her education and graduated from Michigan State University. She retired as a college professor from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. Irene had a passion for crocheting, where she donated most of the items to charity, she enjoyed crafts, had a large collection dolls and hosted many bands from around the world at "Hotel Bauer".
On September 8, 1979 she married her husband of thirty six years Don J. Bauer and he is left behind to cherish her memories along with one daughter and son-in-law; Sara and Josh Schroeder of Bay City one son and daughter-in-law; Shawn and Theresa Bauer of Wilmington, NC, one sister and brother-in-law; Dorothy and Edward Kalinka of Hudsonville, MI, one brother; Greg Brown of Three Rivers, CA, sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Rita and Dave Hernden of CO and her niece; Angela Perez of Grand Rapids. Besides her parents Wesley and Norma she was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law; Barbara and Randy Crawford.
At the request of Irene, cremation will take place and there will be no services or visitation at the Gephart Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission in Bay City and can be made at the funeral home.
