Iris L. Kraut

Mrs. Kraut passed away on March 13, 2018 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan, age 96 years, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. The daughter of the late Edwin and Charlotte Steinbauer, she was born December 1, 1921 in Bay City, Michigan. Iris was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. She retired from Bay City Schools. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and took great pride in her children and grandchildren.
On August 16, 1941 she married Emil Kraut, They were married 64 years until his death in 2005. She is survived by two sons, Thomas (JoAnn) of Gaylord and David (Mary) of Clarkston; 8 grandsons; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Engelhardt and many nieces and nephews. Iris loved camping, playing cards and family get togethers where she would cook her kid's favorite meals.
Memorial Services will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Kruse. Private interment has taken place in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services to receive family and friends. Memorial Contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
