Jack E. Herner

Our loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Friday, August 30, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side at the age of 75 years. The son of the late George and Florence (Campbell) Herner was born August 29, 1938 in Bay City, Michigan. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Jack retired from Dow Corning. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #465 in Estey, MI. Jack enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bicycling, he enjoyed helping others, especially by being the handyman in his neighborhood and also enjoyed wintering in Florida. Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife the former Darleen M. Luckner whom he married September 17, 1960, one son and his wife; Chris Herner and Debbie Havens, one daughter and son-in-law; Colleen and Scott Packard, his special grandchildren; Chase and McKenna Packard, his brother and sisters-in-law; Tom and Linda Herner and Marie Luckner, several special nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, many special friends in Bay City and Florida. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law; Mike and Mary Luckner. At Jack's request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. Officiating will Rev. Fr. Bill Gruden .The family will receive family and friends at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
