Jack W. Porter

Jack W. Porter, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away Saturday morning October 23, 2010 at Brian's House, age 80. He was born August 27, 1930 in Grand Rapids. Jack was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He served with the US Air Force and retired as a self-employed salesman. Jack is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sue Porter, whom he married June 9, 1973; children, Cindy Fox, Pat (Darcy) Porter and Remi Troupe all of the Grand Rapids area and Robert Porter of Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by a son, Dan Porter, in 2009. The family would like to thank Dr. Hasegawa and also the staff of Brian's House for the excellent care they gave to Jack. The funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday October 26, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church, 3033 E. Wilder Rd. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel C. Meckes and Rev. George W. Morris. Private interment will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Monday from 3:00 to 6:00pm. Mr. Porter will lie instate at the church on Tuesday from 10:00am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or Brian's House.
