Jack R. Swank

Jack passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 at his residence with his family by his side. Age 80 years. The son of the late Wesley and Iris (Cawrse) Swank was born November 14, 1931 in Alma, MI. Jack was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Jack retired in 1986 from Dow Chemical Co. in Louisiana in 1986 as an instrument technologist. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife the former Patricia A. Roozenburg whom he married May 22, 1954, his children; Michael (Diane) Swank of Bay City, Mark Swank of Commerce Twp., MI, Cheryl Abou Samra of Bay City, MI and Jacqueline Cleaver of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, his grandchildren; Allen Elkins, Justin McLaughlin, Warren Cleaver, Chelsea Swank and Nicole Abou Samra, his step grandson; Christopher Abou Samra, two great grandchildren, one sister; Sharon Gilbert, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law; Elaine and David Schweinsberg and Thomas Roozenburg all of Bay City, several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Liturgy will take place Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert S. Gohm with the Rite of Committal following at St. Patrick's Mausoleum followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Jack will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorial cards for Holy Trinity Catholic Church or McLaren Bay Region Hospice will be available at the funeral home or at the church.
