James Dore

James Dore Bay City, Michigan The son of the late Ernest and Theresa (Kelpinski) Dore passed away early Tuesday morning, August 2, 2016 at his residence with his family at his side. Age 81 years. He was born on September 2, 1934 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Jim was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish - St. Mary's Church, a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 414 and he proudly served his Country in the United States Navy Reserve and the United States Army. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Left behind to cherish his memories are one son and one daughter-in-law; Todd and Ann (Polzin) Dore, two grandchildren; Caden and Olivia Dore all of Bay City, one brother and sister-in-law; Harold and Joan Dore of Franklin, TN and his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. On April 4, 1964 he married the former Nancy Ann Schultz and she preceded him in death on January 17, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; Ernest and Theresa and one brother; Kenneth Dore. The family would like to extend heartfelt thank you Jim's caregivers; Terry, Steve, Mary, Jack, Nate, Michelle, Dr. Struble and his staff , Dr. Shink and McLaren Visiting Nurse and Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Jim during the time they cared for him. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Parish-St. Mary's Church 607 E. S. Union Bay City, Michigan 48706. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Patrick M. Jankowiak with the Rite of Committal following in Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, Michigan. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday to receive visitors from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Members of the United States Army and the Bay County Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Dore will be taken to the Church on Friday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to Our Lady of Peace Parish or the Donor's Favorite Charity.
