James William "Jim" Goodnight Jr. passed away Saturday November 8, 2014 in Ogemaw County unexpectedly due to a medical condition while bow hunting. Age 46 years. He was born February 16, 1968 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Jim was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Outdoor Adventure's, UAW Local 668 and was employed at Saginaw Metal Casting as a Team Leader - Coordinator. Jim graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1987. He was an avid hunter, had a great love for the outdoors, he had a great talent as a handyman and was a jack of all trades. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his wife and his children whom he adored. Jim is survived by his wife Kim, two children; Cody and Nicole Goodnight both at home, his mother and step father; Cheryl and Larry Finn of Linwood, step father; Carl Douglas and his wife Renee of Turner, father; James William Goodnight Sr., father-in-law and mother-in-law; Ernie and Cheryl Highlen, grandmother; Katherine VanIdour, one brother and sister-in-law; Chris and Tracey Goodnight all of Bay City, sister and brother-in-law; Shannon and Jamie Bothe of Essexville, brother-in-law; Todd Highlen and Amy Nowak of Holly, one nephew and three nieces; Sam Goodnight, Olivia Gage, Emily and Katherine Bothe and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers and grandmother; Walter and Lyla Goodnight and Charles VanIdour and one sister-in-law; Tammie Goodnight. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Friday, November 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon and from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Jim will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for "The Wishes of the Family" for a memorial to be established at a later time.
