James “Jumbo” Robetoy passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born September 28, 1941, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Albert and Catherine Robetoy. He graduated from Saint Mary’s Catholic High School, Class of 1959. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Constellation as a TV Telecasting and Repairman. Following active duty, James owned and operated his own TV repair business with his father and later finished his career working at Millars TV & Appliance. He served as president and was actively involved in the Bay County Pony league for decades which his father co-founded. He was an active member of the Lions Club, enjoyed watching sports, and was a die hard University of Michigan fan. Jim was an avid golfer and poker player. Most will fondly remember “Jumbo” for his storytelling and sense of humor.
James is survived by his children, Todd (Suzanne) Robetoy and Dawn (Steve) Velasquez; grandchildren, Maddison, Lillianna, and Isabella Velasquez; brother, Butch (Connie) Robetoy; nieces and nephews, Mark Drouillard, Teri (Clint) Drouillard, Pam Charbonneau, Brandon (Kilah) Robetoy, and Rebecca (Todd) Donaldson. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by wife, Sandra, and wife, Linda, along with sister, Allison (Don) Drouillard. He will be greatly missed by all.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate “Jumbo’s” life on Sunday, December 17, 2023, between 2:00pm-5:00pm, at the American Legion Post #18, 700 Adams Street, Bay City, Michigan, 48708. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bay County Pony League, 316 Pine Street, Essexville, MI, 48732, or to the Bay City Lions Club. Inurnment will take place privately at Floral Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. & Cremation Services.
