James Savage

James Savage "Jim Bob" Bay City, Michigan Mr. Savage passed away early Thursday afternoon November 7, 2013 at the Carriage House of Bay City at the age of 80 years. The son of the late Bernard and Marie (Timm) Savage was born December 29, 1932 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Jim was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #414 and the Bay City Lions Club. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from CBM Service and was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan. On April 29, 1961 he married the former Barbara Kay Peterson in Holy Trinity Catholic Church and she survives his passing along with one daughter and son-in-law; Angela and Donald Scherzer of Bay City, one son; Stephen Savage of Greenwood, SC, two grandchildren; Andrew R. Savage and Shannon M. Savage, two brothers and two sisters-in-law; Frederick and Patricia Savage and Edward and Carole Savage, four sisters and four brothers-in-law; Catherine and Hugh Treanor, Mary Ellen and Peter Miceli, Bernadette and Robert Kalinowski and Ann and Donald Sanborn and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friends, "The Friday Night Group"; Fred and Marilyn Hamilton, Jim Baldwin, Thelma Luczak, honorary member of the group Sr. Mary Epple and many other special friends and neighbors. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister; Marjorie Mysliwski. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you the caring staff at the Carriage House of Bay City and McLaren Hospice and his shooting partner Ray for the kind and compassionate care they extended to Jim during the time they cared for him. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of The Assumption Catholic Church, 501 N. Walnut St. Bay City, MI 48706. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Patrick M. Jankowiak. A private Rite of Committal for the family will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council and the United States Air Force. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Monday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m . The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home followed by the Bible Presentation by the Knights of Columbus Council #414. Members of the Bay City Lions Club will conduct a memorial service Monday evening at 8:00 p.m. Mr. Savage will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of the Mass. Memorial cards for St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Alzheimer's Association and the Bay City Lions Club will be available at the funeral home. www.gephartfuneralhome.com
