James E. Schmidt

Mr. James E. Schmidt, of Bay City, passed away with his loving family by his side on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region following a brief illness. He was 74 years old. The son of the late Elton "Doc" & Naida (Gillese) Schmidt, he was born July 25, 1938 in Bay City. James worked for many years as a commercial painter. He was a life member of the Bay Area Darters Association and he enjoyed drag racing, Nascar and reading. Mr. Schmidt is survived by his lifelong companion, Sharon Schmidt; four children, Robert (Susan) Schmidt of Bay City, Amy (Chris) Parrent of Munger, Rick Barnella of North Carolina and Lori (Greg) Zettle of Kawkawlin; and six grandchildren, Jessica, David, Rachel, Zac, Emily and Kaitlyn. It was Mr. Schmidt's desire that cremation take place and with no services to be held. For those who so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
