James J. Volk, Jr., of Bay City, passed away Friday July 27, 2012 at McLaren Bay Region, age 50. He was born October 17, 1961 in Bay City. James graduated from John Glenn High School in 1979 and then served in the U.S. Air Force. He was currently employed by Forward Corp. James loved his family and he liked hunting and fishing. Most of all he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and woodworking. James is survived by his mother, Mildred Volk; a sister, Cindy (Nick) Johnson; three brothers, Carl (Donna) Volk, Michael (Jodi) Volk and Mark (Melinda) Volk; and his nieces & nephews, Niquolae Johnson, Matthew, Joshua and Tyler Volk, Gerrit and Kinnon Kurtyez, Casey, Hannah and Emma Johnson, Sarah Volk and Jennifer Gorman. James was preceded in death by his father, James J. Volk, Sr. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday July 30, 2012 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Sr. Virginia Scally, SNDdeN, Pastoral Administrator of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Parish. Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
