Janet Marie Van Akker

Janet passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 88 years. Janet was born in Bay City on December 14, 1932 to the late Floyd and Francis (Smith) Valead. In 1954 she married Richard Van Akker and they were married for 66 years. Janet was a member of North Euclid Church of God and retired as an x-ray technician from Bay Radiology after over twenty years. In her spare time she enjoyed antiquing and loved spending time with her family.
Janet is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Bethany Schaeffer and fiancée Roland, Richard L. (Beth) Van Akker, Lynette M and Ashley S. Van Akker; grandchildren, Joshua, Katelyn, Cuyler, Bella and Zara; great grandson, Gage; sisters, Barbara Valead and Joan Williams and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Angela; sisters, Carol Valead and Geraldine Valead; brother, Robert Valead and many ½ brothers and sisters.
At the request of Janet cremation has taken place and a private memorial service has taken place with private inurnment in Floral Gardens Cemetery.
