Mrs. Janice M. Spurlock, of Bay City, passed away Friday evening, April 14, 2017, surrounded by her family and loved ones at McLaren Bay Region, age 75. The daughter of the late Francis and Sophie (Lentz) Barnett, she was born on January 24, 1942 in Bay City. Janice graduated from T.L. Handy High School and attended Northeastern Business School. She served her country with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. Janice was a very active member of St. Alban Episcopal Church and was a proud member of the American Legion Post #18.
On May 6, 1961 Janice married Lindsey Spurlock and he survives her passing along with their four children, Lindsey (Becky) Spurlock, Robert Spurlock, Michelle (Perry) Williams and Melissa (Richard) Felmlee; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Sherry) Barnett; a sister, Kathleen (James) MacDonald; a brother-in-law, William Clark; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Janice was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosalind Clark; a brother, Francis "Buddy" Barnett; and three nephews, Nathaniel, Kenneth and Michael.
The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at St. Alban Episcopal Church. Officiating will be The Rev. Sharon L. Voelker. The interment will follow at Floral Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Spurlock will lie instate at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Alban Episcopal Church.
