Janis passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 69 years. She was born on October 25, 1949 in Pasco, Washington to Leonard and Alice (Nichols) Roberson. Janis was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and worked and retired in 2009 from Bay Arenac Community High School as a secretary. On July 20, 1968 she married Richard Eschenbacher in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Janis is survived by her husband, Richard; daughters, Kristina (Patrick) Archer and Jodi (Peter Jr.) Remington; grandchildren, Peter III and Henry Remington, Hope Botimer and Jonathan Archer; mother, Alice Cox; sister, Rosie (Daniel) Jennings; brother, Leonard D. (Elaine) Roberson and many nephews and cousins. Janis was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Dewillous Roberson; sister-in-law, Nora Roberson; nephew, James Eschenbacher and father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Viola Eschenbacher.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Jacob M. Reich with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Eschenbacher will be taken to the church to lie in state on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
