Jarvis X. Britton

Jarvis Xavier Britton, of Bay City, Michigan passed away early Monday morning October 13, 2014 at Caretel Inns of the Tri-Cities. Age 83 years. He was born August 26, 1931 in Bay City and grew up in Midland, Michigan until moving back to Bay City. He was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish and the Knights of Columbus #414. Mr. Britton proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and retired from Dow Plastic Lined Pipe as a pipe fitter. Jarvis enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, being outdoors and most of all spending time with his family. On September 6, 1958 he married the former Mary Ellen Foco in St. James Catholic Church. She survives his passing along with three daughters and two sons-in-law; Barbara Britton, Sandra and Todd DuBois and Kristie and Stephen Molinaro, his grandchildren; David Crouder, Nicole Bilhimer, Catherine Harris, Kristofer Molinaro and Daniel Molinaro, step-grandchildren; Grace, Nicholas and Eliza DuBois, and his very much-loved nieces and nephews. Mr. Britton is also survived by a brother-in-law, Richard Foco, and special friends Florence Jarvis and Jim and Helen Naert. He was preceded in death by his parents; Benjamin and Elsie (Cron) Britton and his sister, Aleatha Coons, his brother Lewis Britton, and his twin sister; JoAnne Voinovich. The family would like to thank the staffs at McLaren Bay Region Hospital and Caretel Inns Assisted Living (especially Caretel's Janice and Fantasia) for the wonderful care Mr. Britton received while he was in these facilities. Private Funeral Liturgy took place Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish-St. Joseph Church 1005 Third St. Bay City, MI 48708. Celebrant was Rev. Fr. George J. Serour with private Rite of Committal in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
