Jeanne DeMaertelure

Jeanne passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at her home at the age of 67 years. Jeanne was born in Reese, Michigan on April 6, 1951 to Fred and Katherine (Helmreich) Harrington. On October 14, 1972 she married Raymond DeMaertelure. He passed away December 28, 2001. She was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Saginaw. Jeanne retired in 2010 after 37 years of teaching school for the Reese Public Schools. Mrs. D. was a selfless soul who kept in contact with former students and their families well beyond graduation. In her spare time she enjoyed baking, crafts, snuggling and reading books to her grandchildren and working on eBay selling her husband's collection. She enjoyed sending care packages to those she didn't see as often. Her happiness revolved around others' happiness.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Raymond (Julie) and Melissa (Nate) Hebl; grandchildren, Katelyn and Blake Hebl; father, Fred Harrington; sister, Molly (John) Woodward and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Steven and Fred Fritz Harrington Jr.
Funeral and Committal service will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 1020 Court Street, Saginaw, Michigan. Officiating will be Pastor Julius Buelow with cremation to follow the service. Friends can visit with the family at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. DeMaertelure will be taken to the church to lie in state on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
