Jeanne Ann Weiss, of Bay City, passed away early Saturday morning, May 13, 2017 at the Bay Medical Care Facility, age 66. The daughter of the late Harold and Edna (Karpus) Hempel, she was born on December 30, 1950 in Detroit. Jeanne was a Registered Nurse and retired from McLaren Bay Region. She was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish where she was a member of the St. Anne's Society. Jeanne was a very caring person and was an active volunteer her whole life, especially with St. Joseph Church and School. She was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jeanne is survived by her four children, Joseph (fiance Jennifer Wooten) Weiss, Jr., Patrice (Bernie) LaLonde, Doug (Lisa) Weiss and James (Gina) Weiss; six grandchildren, Sunny (Andrew), Tori, Josie, Robert, Joshua and Dakota; and her sister, Kathy Light. Besides her parents, Jeanne was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ryon LaLonde and her brother, Thomas Hempel.
In keeping with her giving spirit, Jeanne made the decision to have her remains donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. A Memorial Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish in Essexville. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Dale A. Orlik. For those who so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Brian's House. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gephart Funeral Home.
