Jerome passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at Brian's House at the age of 74 years. Jerome was born in Saginaw on March 30, 1945 to the late Harold and Elenora (Earle) Schmolitz. He married the former Carol Ann Hanover on May 10, 1997 and they were married for 22 years. Jerome proudly served his country in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. Jerome worked and retired in 1996 from GM/Delphi and was a member of Local 699. He enjoyed being a member of the Saginaw River Marine Historical Society, hunting, fishing, camping, golfing and boating. Overall he loved the outdoors, spending his winters in Florida and watching sports and movies with his pooches, Coty and Jax.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Lacy (Benjamin) Emmons; step daughters, Debra Rowell and Shellie (Brad) Turmell; step son, Greg (Peggy) Rowell; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jerry Dambro; sisters-in-law, Barb Hanover and Marilyn (Ron) Collier and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Roseanne Dambro and three brothers-in-law and two sisters in-law, Dale and Judy, Gale and Melvin and Judy Hanover.
At the request of Jerome, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. with military honors under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Officiating will be Joyce Comtois with private inurnment in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make a memorial contribution to the wishes of the family.
