Jerry C. Swantek

On Saturday, June 22, 2019, family and friends lost a great man, Jerome "Jerry" Clarence Swantek. Born on October 12, 1939 he lived a long, ambitious and wonderful life passing away months before turning 80. Jerry was born and raised in Saginaw, MI along with his three sisters, Patricia, Catherine and Barbara. He graduated from Holy Family Catholic High School in 1957. He enjoyed dance contests, cool cars and the company of good friends. After high school he married Nancy Reid and they moved to Bay City. In 1969 he started his own computer business (Data Information Service Center) that was in successful operation until he retired in 2011. Jerry and Nancy were married for 54 years and renewed their wedding vows amongst family and friends on June 19, 2019.
Jerry was a determined, spirited, work hard, play hard kind of man who would do anything for his family and friends. He loved his only child, Jennifer, dearly and was very proud of his two grandsons, Spencer and Jack. His favorite activities included playing euchre, poker and pool with his buddies, walking, biking and roller blading. He also loved the water - swimming, water skiing, boating, and fishing. In his 40s, he discovered a new passion, downhill skiing; traveling up north as often as possible and to destinations around the country and world with the Snow Drifters Ski Club. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard.
Although he has left this life and moved into the next, his memory will live on through his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Reid) Swantek; daughter, Jennifer Swantek-Brady and her husband Scott; grandsons, Spencer and Jack Brady; sisters, Patricia (Russell) Bull and Barbara (Fred) Woskoff; nieces and nephews, Mark Bull, Becky (Roger) Shank, Byron (Mackenzie) Bull, Lori (Cary) Moore, Debbie Neumann, Terri (James) Bell, Michelle (Fred) Husen and nine great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rose (William) Dodge and Clarence (Mary) Swantek and his sister, Catherine Neumann.  Also special thanks to family friend Nate Volk.
Funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Bay City. Officiating will be Father Andy Booms with burial to follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Saginaw. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
