Joan M. Gesquiere

Joan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 with her family by her side. Age 93 years. The daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Murphy) Martin was born May 31, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan.
Joan is survived by her six loving children; Joan and John Svendor, Robert and Cynthia Gesquiere, Ronald and Danielle Gesquiere, Elizabeth and Edward Silye, Rochelle and Robert Washabaugh and Cherie and Rob Bluhm; fifteen grandchildren; John, Shawn, Heather, Wendy, Nicole, Ryan, Jason, Ashley, Meagan, Andrea, Robbie, Aaron, Lauren, Austin and Connor; sixteen great grandchildren; Ethan, Emyle, Hannah, Gregory, Hailey, Rory, Trevor, Olivia, Leah, Valyn, Giada, Veronica, Harper, August, Ilaria and Isaiah; one brother, Bill (Lynn) Martin; two sisters-in-law, Goldie Vultaggio and Mary Gesquiere and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Gesquiere, whom she married on September 8, 1942 and shared 69 years of marriage.
Joan was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church where she served as the church and school secretary for 40 years.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cherie and Rob for taking mom into their home and caring for her.
Funeral and Committal services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Matthew Hall. Private interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial cards for Faith Lutheran Church will be available at the funeral home.
