Joan Florence McCarty

McCarty, Joan Florence Bay City, Michigan The daughter of the late Fredrick S. and Phyllis J. (LaPan) Thompson passed away early Monday morning December 23, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 73 years. She was born November 12, 1940 in Bay City, Michigan and has resided here all of her life. Joan started her career as a dispatcher for the Essexville Public Safety and she retired as one of the original dispatchers for Bay County 911. She had a great love for her dogs, flowers, painting and enjoyed reading books. Joan is survived by her children; Gordon F. McCarty Jr. of Pierson, Dawn M. (Christopher) Abbs of Pierson, MI, Tracy A. McCarty of Kawkawlin, MI and Kevin A. (Heidi) McCarty of Bay City, four grandchildren; Brady A. Abbs, Spencer P. Abbs, McKenzie D.P. Lee and Hunter J. Lee, two sisters and two brothers-in-law; Kay S. (James) Behmlander and Sandi E. (Thomas) VanTol of NC, one brother and sister-in-law; Fred S. (Becky) Thompson of Bay City and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Joan's Life will take place Friday evening, December 27, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. David S. Ferranti Pastor of Bay Valley Christian Church. The Family will be present at the funeral home on Friday to receive visitors from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. At the request of Joan Cremation has taken place at the Sunset Valley Crematory. Memorial contributions for the American Lung Cancer or the Humane Society of Bay County will be available at the funeral home.
