John E. Libera

Mr. Libera passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at his residence. Age 91 years. The son of the late John and Theresa (Whittbrodt) Libera was born April 10, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan. Mr. Libera retired from Dow Chemical after 42 years of service and then went to work for Baytown for 14 years. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpentry work.

Mr. Libera is survived by two children, Joe (Linda) Libera of Levering, MI and Carol (Larry) Dufresne of Essexville; seven grandchildren, Tammy Doner (Scott), Bridget (Larry) Kilpatrick, Beau Libera (Annie), Jill (Travis) Hoffman, Jennifer (Allen) Atkari, Lisa (Jim) Runberg and Becky (Eric) Johnson; fifteen great grandchildren, Courtney (Ethan) Blados, Alana and Breanna Doner, Emmett and Ethan Barber, Joe and Jon Libera, Kylie and Logan Kaczmarek, Sophia and Wyatt Hoffman, Jace and Dane Johnson, Katie (Kyle) Jankens and Chris Runberg; four great great grandchildren, Lorin Runberg and Keagan, Deklan and Callan Jankens; sister, Florence Brozewski; two sisters-in-law, Stella Robinson and Pauline Caverley; brother and sister-in-law, Dave (Donna) Robinson; special nieces, Charlotte, Doris and Patty; special nephew, Floyd Robinson and his special friend, Fluffy. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Ann Libera; granddaughter, Kelly Dufresne and his grandson, Jim Kaczmarek.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of McLaren Hospice for their compassion and care that they gave to John.

Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Corpus Christi Parish. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Kelm with private interment following in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Mr. Libera will be taken to the church to lie in state on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorial cards for the wishes of the family will be available at the funeral home.
