John F. Streu, Sr.

John F. Streu, Sr., of Valrico, Florida, formerly of Bay City, Michigan, age 90 years. Our Hero passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at his residence in Florida with his family at his side. He was born November 17, 1921 in Bay City, Michigan to the late John B. and Maria (Schmidt) Streu. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brandon, FL and served with the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. Mr. Streu was a Co-Owner of Bishop Young Furniture Co. in Bay City and formerly owned Barretts of Boyne, Boyne City, MI On January 17, 1948 he married the former Madelyn H. Wackerle in St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Bay City and she survives his passing along with one son and daughter-in-law; John F. and Vikki Streu, Jr. of Midland, one daughter-in-law; Susan J. and John Cluff of Valrico, FL, two grandson; Barrett and Rachel Streu of Portland, OR and Nathan and Katie Streu of San Francisco, CA, two great grandchildren; Mirabel and Felix Streu, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Pastor David Woodman with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:30 p.m. and until the time of services.
