John Paul Toussaint

John passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 at his residence at the age of 66 years. John was born in Jacksonville, Florida on August 25, 1953 to the late Joseph and Catherine (Neitsch) Toussaint. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. On June 6, 1992 he married the former Lucinda Kobs and were together for 28 years. John served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked and retired in 2012 after 32 years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. John was a member of the American Legion Post 18, Vietnam Veterans of America, Bay County Honor Guard and the Yellow Ribbon Guard. He worked very hard each year on the Send Santa to the Troops campaign.
John is survived by his wife, Lucinda; children, Logan Kobs-Toussaint and Michelle Toussaint; grandchildren, Devin, Alexis, Bethany and Cerenity; great grandson, Wyatt; brothers, Robert and Jerry Toussaint; sister, Peggy Vowell and nieces and nephews, Cheri Hogue, Josh Ottosen and Melissa VanOrtwick.
Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Lighthouse Family Worship Center with military honors under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Officiating will be Rev. Charles Campbell with burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at the Gephart Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 p.m. We are currently still under the governor's executive order of social distancing and limited to 10 visitors in the chapel at one time. You may experience a wait while paying your respects and face coverings must be worn. Mr. Toussaint will be taken to the church to lie in state on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at church.
