Joe passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, January 7, 2024 at his residence, at the age of 78. The son of the late William and Laura (LaForest) Clancey was born January 29, 1945 in Bay City, Michigan. He was a member of Kawkawlin Community Church and attended Christian Assembly Church. Joe worked for many years at Prestolite Corporation. He was a life member of Abate of Michigan and a member of the Black Pistons Motorcycle Club. He had a great love for motorcycles and riding his Harley, he enjoyed working on them and building them with his son Joey, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and had a great love for his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Judy C. Clancey whom he married, June 3, 1967; grandchildren, Joey, Nate, Ashley, Cheyenne and Skylar; great grandchildren, Lilly, Aurora, Tallulah, Nate Jr, Kaylee, Anthony, Kaiden and McKenzie; brother, Bill Clancey; sisters, Sharon Weitzel, Noreen Clancey, Dora Mae Heric; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Beatrice “Sugar” LeClair, Diane and Brooke Keane; his nephew, John Steward and many other nieces, nephews and honorary grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to their neighbors Vick and Joyce Gay for always being there to lend a hand to Joe and Judy. In addition to his parent’s, he was also preceded in death by his son, Joseph P. Clancey “Joey” Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Beatrice Steward; sisters, Gail Stanley and Pat Clancey; brothers-in-law, Johnny Steward and John “Jack” LeClair.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place Friday, January 12, 2024 11:00 a.m. at Christian Assembly Church. Officiating will be Pastor Matt Place. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Joe will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
