Joseph Anthony Gwizdala II

Joseph passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side at the age of 93 years. He was born in Bay City on April 24, 1925 to the late Joseph and Rose (Luptowski) Gwizdala. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp in WWII and later in the United States Airforce in the Korean War. On May 6, 1950 he married the former Irene Rose Kram in Angola, Indiana and she survives him. Joseph was a member of Corpus Christi Parish - Holy Trinity Church and worked for Dow Chemical Company in Midland retiring in 1985. He also worked for numerous civil engineering firms for many years and held many offices in Monitor Township including Trustee. Joseph was past President of the Bay City Lions Club and past President District Governor of 11D1. He was also active in the Harrison Moose Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, Detroit Tiger and Lions, camping and going up north to the cabin.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Irene; children, Joseph III (Jean), Mark (Kendra), William (Carla) and Lori (Shane) Hall; sixteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Randy; daughter, Pammy; brother, Conrad and sisters, Delores Lijewski and Virginia Webber.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Corpus Christi Parish - Holy Trinity Church with military honors under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. The Celebrant will be Rev Fr. Robert Kelm with private burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Lions Service of Remembrance at 6:00 p.m. and a Vigil for the Deceased at 6:30 p.m. Mr. Gwizdala will be taken to the church to lie in state on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
