Joseph F. Jean Joseph F. Jean of Bay City, Michigan passed away early Saturday morning September 20, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 91 years. The son of the late Franklin and Clara (Nicholas) Jean was born November 2, 1922 in Caseville, MI and has resided in Bay City most of his life. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, the Knights of Columbus Council 2740, VFW Kawkawlin Linwood Post 6950 and the American Legion Post 18 and retired as a die cast operator from General Motors Co. Bay City Plant. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hunting and fishing. On February 15, 1947 he married the former Bernice Rose Ayotte and she survives his passing along with seven children and their spouses; Roger (Margaret) Jean, Allen (Joann) Jean, David (Debra) Jean, James (Joyce) Jean, Beverly (Bernard) Murphy, Barbara (Jerome) Swiecicki, Dale Jean and Cathi Jean, thirty grandchildren, forty seven great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by, one son; John Jean, three grandsons and two granddaughters, one brother; Lee A. Jean and one sister; Margaret Heck. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish St. Vincent de Paul Site 2956 E North Union Rd Bay City, MI 48706. Rev. Fr. John S. Sarge and Sr. Virginia Scally, SNDdeN will officiate over the Funeral Rites. Following the Mass members of the Bay County Veterans Council and the United States Navy will conduct Military Honors. Private Rite of Committal will take place at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. from on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Jean will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of the Mass. Memorial Cards will be available for St. Catherine of Siena Parish.
