Our loving father and grandfather passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Auburn Heights Senior Care with his family by his side. Age 86 years. The son of the late Arthur and Corrine Lipan and youngest of twelve children he was born August 6, 1929 in Bay City, MI. He was retired from Dow Chemical Company. Mr. Lipan was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Vicent de Paul Church. He had a great sense of humor and was a very social person, enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the casino and his greatest joy was watching old movies. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Left behind to cherish his memories are two children; Randy (Mary) Lipan and Tami (Richard) Stone; two grandchildren; Jack (Sherry) Lipan and Nicholas. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife; Edna Elsie (Chartier) Lipan, his siblings; Arthur, Ralph, Leon and James Lipan, Loretta Haga, Madeline Kaunitz, Maxine Rosenburg, Vivian O' Loughlin, Marjorie Lipan, Elaine Baranek and Jane Curtis. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Vincent de Paul Church 2956 E. North Union Rd., Bay City, MI. Rev. Fr. John S. Sarge and Sister Virginia Scally SNDdeN will officiate over the Funeral Rites with the Committal following at Calvary Cemetery followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. the Vigil for the Deceased will take place Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Lipan will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
