Joseph F. McGivern Jr.

Mr. McGivern passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his residence. Age 91 years. The son of the late Joseph and Anna (Caul) McGivern Sr. was born August 22, 1927 in Linwood, Michigan. Mr. McGivern was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, belonged to the Masonic Lodge, worked on the Great Lakes on freighters and enjoyed gardening, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. McGivern is survived by his four children, Joseph (Jennifer) McGivern III, Pamela Scharich, Laurie Hudson and Nancy Mayhew; seven grandchildren, Joseph IV, Christopher Witbrodt, Emilee (Brett) Lynch, Elizabeth (Jason) Niederwerder, Matti (Jaime) Jylha, Courtney McGivern and Nicole (Rick) Causley; seven great grandchildren; sister, Hazel Weekley; brother-in-law, Richard Evans and his sister-in-law, Barbara Evans. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice McGivern; second wife, Mignon McGivern; grandson, Grant Gerhardt and several brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Trinity Episcopal Church. Officiating will be The Rev. Susan C. Rich with committal following at Elm Lawn Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial cards for Trinity Episcopal Church will be available at the funeral home.
