Joseph (Tom) Thomas Periard

Joseph Thomas (Tom) Periard, age 71, passed away in the early morning hours of March 5th, 2012 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tom was born to the late Lloyd "Chick" Periard, Sr. and the late Catherine "Carrott" Steinhoff on July 25, 1940. Mr. Periard, a life-long resident of Bay City, graduated from Visitation High School in 1959 and worked as an Iron Worker, with Local Union 25 for over 35 years. Tom retired in 1996 and enjoyed his retirement by fishing, hunting, gardenening and visiting his children and grandchildren. He was known to grow the most beautiful dahlias in town. Tom leaves behind his two beloved daughters, Melanie Periard of Charlotte, NC and Michelle Branaman of Charlotte, NC; their spouses Chris Sugar and Chris Branaman and four grandchildren Arthur and Miles Sugar and Eleanor and Henry Branaman. Tom also leaves behind ex-wife and friend Marlene Periard. He was one of nine children and is preceded in death by his older brother Lloyd "Bub" Periard and older sister Kay Biskner along with her husband Gerb. He is survived by sister-in-law Loretta Periard, sister Pam Corcoran and her husband Tom, brother Guy Periard and his wife Kathy, sister Doris Maxwell and her husband Bill, brother Gary Periard and his wife Amy, brother Ben Periard and his wife Minnie and Brother Don Periard and his wife Nancy. He also leaves behind multiple nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and countless wonderful friends, notably Susan Snyder. Tom will be celebrated with a memorial service at Gephart Funeral home on West Midland Street, Saturday March 31st at 3:00pm. Officiating will be Sr. Mary Epple, RSM. Friends can call at the funeral home from 1:00 - 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mr. Periard's name to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region 1420 East Seventh Street Charlotte, NC 28204.
