Josephine Davis

Josephine A. Davis (Jo, Jo Ann, Josie) passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 with family surrounding her after enjoying a life full of love and laughter.  Daughter of the late Anna C. Kabat Neitzel and Joseph J. Neitzel, she was born on September 28, 1929.  As a youngster, she walked to Saint Stanislaus school, worked at the family hardware store, attended dances at the Bay City Armory, and graduated from Central High School in 1947. She resided in Bay City, MI for more than eight decades. 

On November 28, 1953, Jo married the love of her life, Robert F. Davis (Bob, Butchie) raised three daughters: Mary (Chris) Cody, Ann (widow of Michael) O’Meara Mansfield, Cathy (Doug) Kellermann and has three grandchildren: Katie and James Cody, and Patrick (Rachel) O’Meara. Husband, Bob preceded her in death on March 10, 2012.

Jo was an exemplary mom and friend – Holy Trinity Catechism teacher, Girl Scout leader, carpool driver, and supporter of her daughters’ teams and passions. She enjoyed evening gin rummy games, gardening, baking, golfing and volunteering.  Calling numbers at “Fruit Bingo” brought a special smile to her face. She served on the Bay City Central High School 1947 Reunion Committee until March 2017, when she moved to New Canaan, CT to be with family.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Gephart Funeral Home in Bay City, MI at 11am.Visitation begins at 10am. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Nate & Mary Ida Doan Santa House (baycitysantahouse.com) or a charity of their choice.
