Mrs. Joy Marilyn Morris, of Bay City, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Close To Home Assisted Living in Bay City, age 89. The daughter of the late Raymond and Edith Mae (Wiggins) Carmean, she was born on November 12, 1925 in Rexton, MI. Joy has been a resident of Bay City and also a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish (St. Mary's Catholic Church) since 1952. She was formerly a member of the St. Mary's Church Altar Society, the St. Anthony Circle, the Auburn Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and also the Daughters of Isabella where she served as its bowling league secretary for many years. Joy was employed by Bell Telephone Co. in St. Ignace, MI and San Francisco, CA and by the YWCA in Bay City. She then worked as a secretary / receptionist with the Michigan State University Elementary Intern Program and Student Teaching Office from 1967 until her retirement in 1987. Joy married the love of her life, Theodore F. Morris on January 16, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2012. Mrs. Morris is survived by her two sons, Theodore Jr. of Thailand and Edward (Kathy) Morris of Bay City; her two daughters, Susan (Chris) Baumbach of Essexville and Sandra (Thomas) Denzer of Portage, MI; five grandchildren, Derek (Melissa) Denzer of Forest, VA, Nicole Garnaat of Portage, MI, Robyn (Randy) Coole, Scott (Kassie Poole) Morris of Bay City and Andrew (Melanie Peridore) Baumbach of Bay City; her 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gladys Carmean of St. Ignace, Richard (Audrey) Morris of Levering, Davey (Lois) Morris of Wyoming, MI and Sally Morris (Hank) of Petoskey; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Morris was also preceded in death by a brother, Durwood Carmean; a sister, Lorraine Carmean; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. The family would like to give a special thank you to Close To Home Assisted Living for all their love and care given to Joy. Also, thanks to Dr. Donna Washington, Grace Hospice and Southern Care. The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Our Lady of Peace Parish - St. Mary's Church. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Patrick M. Jankowiak. Private inurnment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Morris will lie instate at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish or Close To Home Assisted Living for their residents landscaping project.
