Joyce Elaine Bowen, of Bay City, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 25, 2014 at her residence, age 65. The daughter of the late Carl E. & Geraldine (Kayden) Pond, she was born July 3, 1947 in Boise, Idaho. Joyce graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1965. She worked at a nursing home in Zeeland for many years. She has resided in Bay City for the past eight years.
Joyce is survived by her three children, Christy Schultz of Hastings, Jennifer Mativier & James Watkins of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Jeffrey (Annie) Bowen of Ada; seven grandchildren, Andrew (Shelby) Berzley, Allison and Emily Schultz, Jessica, James and Jeremiah Mativier and Ella Bowen; two great-grandchildren, Khloe and Matthew Henderson; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Leonard & Diane Pond of Bay City and Gerald Pond of Shreveport, Louisiana. Besides her parents, Joyce was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl Pond.
It was Joyce's desire that her remains be cremated. A Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 906 N. Wenona St., Bay City, MI 48706. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert S. Gohm. The family will be present at the church on Saturday to receive family and friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
