Joyce Oneida (Putman) Leppek was welcomed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father, surrounded by her children and family, on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Bay Shores Senior Care Center, age 92. The daughter of the late Fred and Tressie (McAlpin) Putman, she was born on May 21, 1924 in Stonewall, OK. Joyce retired from Bay City Chevrolet after 32 years of employment. She was a former member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Joyce loved trips to the casino and her winter home in Tucson, AZ. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, word search, and tending to her flowers. Most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.
On March 13, 1946 Joyce married Frank C. Leppek and he preceded her death on May 9, 1995. She is survived by her five children, Gayla (Jim) McMinn of Bay City, Victoria (James) Goodell of Saginaw, Joan (Gene) Solek of Saginaw, Kathleen Silvernale of Bay City and Michael (Margaret) Leppek of Drummond Island; her 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Audrey Overfield of Oklahoma City, OK; and several nieces and nephews. Joyce was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Mark Silvernale; a grandson, Jon Dombrowski; four brothers, Francis, George Obie, Freddie and Charles Putman; and two sisters, Ola Mae Sims and Bernice Napier.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the tender care given to Joyce by McLaren Hospice and Bay Shores Senior Care staff.
The funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice, Brian's House or to the donor's favorite charity.
