Mrs. Judith M. (Olver) Vanderlooven, of Bay City, passed away late Thursday night, December 4, 2014 surrounded by her family at her residence, age 72. The daughter of the late John and Evelyn (Woodruff) French, she was born January 1, 1942 in Bay City. Judy graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1960. She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church. Judy was also a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 367. She was the proud owner of Judy's Catering. Judy also worked at Nordstrom Tax Service, Bay Medical Center and retired from Bresnan Communications. She was an excellent homemaker and also did beautician work out of her home. Judy loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed baking, golfing, quilting, sewing, and playing cards. On May 3, 2013 Judy married George Vanderlooven and he survives her passing. Judy is also survived by her four children, Troy (Courtnay) Sahaydak of Greenville, SC, Tina Olver of Bay City, Ranae (Gene) Rettelle of Midland and Tom Olver of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Craig Sahaydak, Whitney and Weston Sharp, Eden, Cole and Rylie Skimson, Blaine Collins, Nicole, William and Brittney Rettelle; a great-grandson, Nikeli Sahaydak; her favorite grand-puppy, Grace; two brothers, John (Pat) French of Standish and Rex (Vera) French of Essexville; her aunt, Winnie (Al) Geno of Breckenridge; her nieces and nephews; a very close friend, Vicki (Rev. Joseph) Atchinson; and her former husband, Paul Sahaydak. She is also survived by her step-children, William (Jane) Olver of Vermont, Barbara (Mike) Vos of Pennsylvania, Laurie (Rod) Knierim of Gladwin and Sharon Olver of Kalamazoo; many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and George's children, Scott, Lee, Kathy and Patty. Besides her parents, Judy was also preceded in death by husband, William Olver in 1995; and husband, Joseph Vajda in 2011. The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Harvest Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson with interment following at Elm Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Vanderlooven will lie instate at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Baptist Church.
